Ness of Brodgar 2012 Public Opening times
The 2012 Ness of Brodgar excavation started on Monday 16th July with two days of hard work uncovering and preparing the site.

Today , Wednesday 18th July the site opens to the public. Visitors can see archaeology in action on one of Europes most important excavations which is daily changing our perceptions of the Neolithic.
The site is open between 10 am and 4:30 pm daily between 18th July and 23rd August with guided site tours by Archaeologists or the World Heritage Site Ranger service at:
11 am Daily (including Saturday / Sunday)
1 pm Daily Monday - Friday (Not Saturday / Sunday)
3 pm Daily (including Saturday / Sunday)
There is no entry charge to the site, and all tours are free, though donations to the OAS excavation fund will be most welcome. You can make a donation using the collection boxes around the site, at the OAS shop, or through our website donation page.

Also on the site for the fourth year is the Orkney Archaeology Society Shop where you can browse and buy gifts and souvenirs not available anywhere else. All proceeeds from the volunteer run shop are used to support Archaeology in Orkney.

I've just read Robin McKie's article about this amazing site in the Observer I am absolutely amazed and delighted. Congratulations to everybody involved. I hope that I will be able to visit you some time soon. I shall be keeping my eyes peeled for further developments.
